WHY WE STARTED ABSOLUTE FITNESS
My early goal was to train athletes. I grew up competing in swimming and trained in kickboxing for years, so I wanted to stay involved in sport.
After LH Boxing closed during COVID, I started training my existing clients from a small garage at home.
Demand grew quickly. When we later moved house, having enough space to build a proper private gym was part of the decision. Two spare bedrooms became the new training facility.
Working privately showed me there were plenty of people who wanted to lift weights, get stronger and improve their health, but didn't enjoy conventional gyms.
I eventually split my time between the home gym and Active at Les Quennevais. My diary kept getting busier until 12-hour days of 1:1 personal training became normal. If the business was going to grow, the model had to change.
That led to opening Absolute Fitness in St Brelade in late 2024.
A client then told me about a style of personal training they'd experienced in England: several people training at the same time, each following their own programme, with a personal trainer there to coach and support them.
We rebuilt our service around that idea. Some existing clients were apprehensive about training alongside other people, but the vast majority made the switch.
The interesting part is that the community they were initially unsure about has become one of the things our members value most.

What we believe
People aren't lazy. They often just haven't found the training that works for them yet.
We want you to show up.
Training should work for your life.
Strength changes everything.
It should fit around you, not the other way around.
Your training only works if you do it. That's why we build accountability into your week and make consistency a priority.
Being stronger makes everyday life easier and helps you stay capable for longer.
